- EXTRACTING THE LHA FILES
- ------------------------
-
- If you are extracting the <filename>.lha files to floppy disk you will
- need to format eight floppy disks, name disk one CALLSIGN and name the
- remaining seven disks DATA. It is important that you name these disks
- as I've told you.
-
- If you are extracting the <filename>.lha files to your hard disk you
- should make sure that you have at least six megabytes of free space
- and possibly more, as future versions of the call book may be even
- bigger.
-
- will need to create a directory called CBOOK on the partition of your
- choice, it is important that you name the directory CBOOK.
-
- For example DH0:CBOOK or DH1:HAM/DATA/CBOOK
-
- In these examples I'll assume that you have created CBOOK on DH0: if
- you have placed it elsewhere you will have to change the path.
-
-
- ALL USERS
- ---------
-
- Open a CLI/SHELL and copy LHA in the C directory on disk three to RAM:
- next copy the <filename>.lha file you wish to extract to RAM: such as
- CALLSIGN.lha
-
- Change directory to RAM: and enter the following line exactly as shown
- as the commands MUST be entered in upper and lower case.
-
- lha -x -M x -2 <filename> <disk/directory>
-
- where <filename> is the name of the file and <disk/directory> is the
- drive and/or partition you wish the extracted file to go to.
-
- For example:
-
- lha -x -M x -2 callsign DF0:
-
- or
-
- lha -x -M x -2 callsign DH0:CBOOK
-
- If extracting to floppy, extract CALLSIGN.lha to your formatted floppy
- called CALLSIGN and extract DATA.?-? To your formatted floppies
- called DATA. Note that each DATA.?-?.lha file = one floppy disk. On
- the disk label write DATA.?-? Where ? represents a letter from A - Z.
- E.g. DATA.A-D that way you will know what disk to insert when looking
- for a specific callsign.
-
- If extracting to hard disk, extract CALLSIGN.lha and all DATA.?-?.lha
- files to the CBOOK directory.
-
-
- WORKBENCH 2.0+ USERS ONLY
- -------------------------
-
- On disk three is a utility called GuiArc this program will allow you
- to extract the <filename>.lha files with ease, you will need to copy
- the lha program to your boot disk's C directory before you run the
- GuiArc program. NOTE: GuiArc will only work for Workbench 2.0 and
- above. Read the doc's on GuiArc for more information.
-
-
- HARD DISK USERS ONLY
- --------------------
-
- If using Workbench 1.2 or 1.3 modify your s/startup-sequence and add
- this line before BINDDRIVERS
-
- ASSIGN CBOOK: DH0:CBOOK
-
- where DH0: is the name of the hard drive partition.
-
- If using Workbench 2.0 or above modify your s/user-startup and add the
- above line as shown. You will all have to re-boot your computer to
- make this command take effect.
-
-
- ALL USERS
- ---------
-
- Copy CALLF and/or CALLH to your boot disk's C directory. If you have a
- hard drive that boots your computer and you wish to use the call book
- on floppies just copy CALLF to your hard disk's C directory.
-
-
- USING CALLF/CALLH
- -----------------
-
- Open a CLI/SHELL and enter CALLF <callsign> or CALLH <callsign> if
- using CALLF make sure that the CALLSIGN disk is in any drive. If the
- callsign is found in the CALL.? file, you will then get another
- requester asking you to put the DATA disk in any drive. This should
- be the disk containing the last letter of the callsign that you are
- searching for.
-
- e.g. If the callsign you want is G9AAX put the DATA disk containing
- DATA.X into any drive.
-
- CALLF will then look for the name, address and post code of the
- station, and once found will display it on screen.
-
- CALLH works the same way except that it will look in the CBOOK
- directory on your hard drive for the CALL.? And DATA.? Files.
-
- (where ? Is a letter from A - Z)
-
-
- ERROR MESSAGES.
- ---------------
- You will get a message if you enter something wrong like a 7 letter
- callsign, or if a callsign can't be found etc. If a callsign can't be
- found it doesn't mean the callsign doesn't exist, all it means is that
- the name and address of the station has their details with held or you
- have entered the callsign incorrectly.
-
-
- BUGS
- ----
- No known bugs at present, and should work on any Amiga, however please
- send any bug reports, ideas for improvements or if you need help to me
- G1VTM @ GB7NCL or GB7BMX
-
-
- FUTURE VERSION(S)
- -----------------
- Hopefully future versions will allow you to add, delete, and edit
- the data. Will open its own screen from workbench with an icon. Not
- rely on CLI/SHELL to display data.
-
- It will be sent out via packet to AMIGA @ GBR using LHA and 7+
- Copies will also be sent to the AARUG (Amiga Amateur Radio User
- Group)
-
-
